Frequently Asked Questions
What is blooming gel and how does it work?
Blooming gel is a clear gel that, when applied over a cured color base, causes drops of gel polish placed on top to spread and diffuse into soft, watercolor-like shapes. The uncured blooming gel "pulls" the color outward, creating flowers, marble and ink effects before you cure it.
How long does blooming gel take to bloom?
The blooming effect happens within seconds to about a minute after you drop color onto the wet blooming gel - the thinner your blooming gel layer, the more the color spreads. Once you like the pattern, cure it under an LED/UV lamp to lock it in.
Do you cure blooming gel before adding color?
No - you apply a thin layer of blooming gel and leave it uncured, then drop or draw your gel color onto the wet gel so it can spread and bloom. Only cure once the pattern has formed. Curing first stops the blooming effect.
